Player Evaluation Process

Meridian Soccer follows a player-centred development philosophy aligned with the Canadian Soccer Association’s Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) model. While we recognize the value of competition, our primary focus is on individual player development. This approach is consistent with the Meridian Soccer Club Manual.

Continuous Evaluation

Our technical coaches monitor player development throughout both the indoor and outdoor seasons. This ongoing assessment helps coaches become familiar with all players before formal evaluations.

Travel Team Coaching Requirements

Travel team head coaches must commit to completing all required coaching certifications. Head coaches are expected to lead and attend all scheduled training sessions throughout the outdoor season.

Travel Team Commitment

The travel team program requires a higher level of commitment and greater costs than the Recreation League. Players are expected to attend two practices per week and participate in team-selected tournaments and events.

Formal Player Evaluations

All formal evaluations are led and conducted by Meridian Soccer’s technical coaching staff.

Players interested in being considered for a travel team must register for and attend evaluations. Based on development, skill level, and experience, players will be placed on either a travel team or a recreation league team.

If your child is registered in the Under-9 age group and wishes to be considered for Under-11 evaluations, please submit a request to registrar@meridiansoccer.ca.
